Scans of Wingall-sensei's private lesson done, post was updated.)
May I ask your help, please?
I've scanned a page with TOX's alphabet from Perfect Guide (p 495), but in my book a half of symbols are completely unreadable because of their small size (though it's possible to guess them). =\ So I've edited the scan and replaced all of small symbols to big. But I still can't read a few of them.
May I ask you to look in your TOX PG at p 495? Probably, you can make out them (especially 3 gray letters)?
I've mark this unreadable symbols and words with red oval.

I'll try to adapt Wingull-sensei's lesson to work for English speakers =3
How do you do such good scans? Does it hurt the books?
lol they're waaay too small in the PG, but fortunately the WG book has them bigger so I can read them.
- above the numbers: 数字 (suuji; numbers)
- in the wa column: we (for some reason written in roman alphabet)
- in the ya column: yi, then ye (same)
- on the same line as pa/ba/da/...: や拗音 (ya youon; ya syllables)
- the last one (tied to the ー): (長音) (chouon; long vowels)

Sounds wonderful!
Should I wait a time before sharing the Londau-scans on my tumblr in that case?
Yes, but it's not so cruel as it could be possible. God bless japanese printing establishments. ))
If you'll use something to press a book down after scanning (TOX PG + japanese dictionary are good in this lol), your book may be restored in 1-2 days. Exept of book's back: a trace of break will be seen anyway. =[
To tell the truth, it's not "good" scans in RAW. I try to edit scans in GIMP (a programm alike PhotoShop, but simpler) to remove a dark strip near a joint of pages. Something like this.
THANK YOU!!!
Neeeeeed WG! lolAn axiom in our fandom: If you want to own all info about canon you have to buy ALL books. XD
I can finish the table now. ))
May I ask you once more, please?
The 2nd symbol in the wa column - is it ヴ?
And how do you think, should I make the same table where romaji will be instead if kana? For those who does not know how to read cana but wants to read something in TOX&TOX2.

The best would be to create a font out of it xD
But idk how to do that...
Anyway, I'll try to scan that page in the WG book to test scanning on my end and also because there's a bit more about the writing system in the WG book than in the PG. And if I manage to make not-too-bad scans I'll take pics of the WG contents like you did for the Fan Bible and scan other pages on request ^^
My poor book is already starting to lose shape cause I bring it everywhere lololWell you can always share the scans; it won't be the same anyway.
no subject
Yeah, it would be best...
I read how to create a new font, but it needs a drawing skill, I'm unable to draw ever. >__<
Your book should be happy cause you use it often instead of put the book onto a bookshelf and forget about it. )OMG.
Thank you for the scans!
I need it. Right now. *__*
I have to rob a bank, lollol*__*
You really can do this? I mean - to take a pics of the WG?
I, and I think all people in our Fandom, we all will be grateful to you anyway.
Damn, bamco, why don't you place the whole article in PG?!
~~~~~~
Very nice new icons! ^^
Can't keep calm when I'm looking at your main icon.no subject
I'll try to make a better scan of it. And ok, I'll take pics.
I need the FB. And the Xillia books. But it'll take months to arrive ;_;
(Haha yeah I went on an iconing spree xD)
((btw does LJ work on your end? Cause for some reason I can't seem to access it...)
no subject
Yup. I'll order the WG after the end of winter holydays (Jan 8), but it takes a mounth to bring the book to me. So long! T__T
Btw, do you know is something interesting in the Tales of Xillia Illustration Book?
(Opened lj. It works now. May be try another browser?)
no subject
I'm gonna order them... idk when lol. But soon. I don't know if I should wait till March or do two orders... Maybe I should do two.
(LJ still doesn't work for me, in any browser...)
no subject
(It's strange. Some pages that I try to open (including your lj and taleslation) still work, some pages not work.
Idk how to help. =[ )
See for yourself: 1, 2, 3. Do you have any advice to make it better? Also the scanner asks in what format I want them, jpg or pdf. Which is better?
no subject
I remember your scans of TOA Visual Fanbook, it was a good scans in 300 dpi, but they have the same problem.
How do you press the book down to the scanner's glass? Do you use a lid or your own hands? If a lid - try to scan without it, I always press with my hands and press a back of book with force.
It's also depend on the scanner. Which model you use? It is CCD-type or CIS-type?
Read here about CIS and CCD scanner comparison.
My scanner is CCD-type, I'm afraid your may be CIS-type (that is: even if you do your best to make a good scans, your scanner unable to do what you want).
And which programm you use to scan?
Jpg is better, as far I know, and you'll get an image not a pdf-file.
They say that tif is better than jpg and pdf, but I never work with tif.
lol, it's a reason to try. )
Do you need another scan, by chance?
no subject
I'm afraid to press too hard...
And I have no idea lol
And not right now, thanks. It'll depend on whether I can make good scans out of mine ^^
I have a thought, but can't test my scanner right now. Tomorrow, tomorrow.
Can you at least tell my the name of your scanner? It should be printed on it's bottom or/and lit.
no subject
I still think it's because of your scanner. And I suggest a test to it.
TOXPG, p. 288-289.
It was pressed a little, I just put a book above the PG. Then I've took a pic.
Then the pages were scanned in 150 dpi.
Look at the result.
If your scanner fails do the same or similarly, it would mean that it just can't do a good scan irrespective of your efforts.
Rescanned the page about the writing system though and it seems fine?
no subject
Ok, so far as we have now 2 scans that was made in the same conditions...
I try to explain.
There are two types of scanners thas have different image sensors: CIS-type and CCD-type. There is a few significant differences between them (it was described at the upper link, and CCD much better than CIS), and one of them is Depth of field.
CCD-type uses most of Depth of field than SIC, that is: CCD-type can scan a page situated over the CCD-scanner's glass, whereas for CIS-type is necessary maximum fit of a page to the CIS-scanner's glass.
So the reason of this larger blurry area is a type of your scanner: it's CIS.
My scanner is CCD, which is why our results of scanning are so different.
Idk how to help with it. =(
I tried to find a method to taking a better scan for CIS-type of scanner, but mostly sites said "use a flat pages, take apart your book, or use CCD".
...You may completely ruin the book if you continue to scan with maximum pressing. ((
